Esmail Qaani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that Yahya Sinwar's election as the head of the political bureau of Hamas proves the movement has handed its banner to a figure who is more influential on the ground.

Qaani sent a message to Sinwar affirming that "avenging the blood of Haniya, which was spilled on our soil, is our duty."

The “Israel Broadcasting Authority” said that Sinwar’s selection to lead the political bureau of Hamas is “a message to Tel Aviv that Hamas is alive, its leadership in Gaza is strong, and it will remain so."

It added that “Israeli” officials agree that Sinwar is extremely intelligent, very tough, possesses substantial organizational skills, and has a deep understanding of "the Israelis."
